Rayan Cherki to Man City twist! Lyon reject first offer from Pep Guardiola's side as second bid prepared for France star

According to journalist Florian Plettenberg, Lyon have turned down City's first bid for Cherki but a second offer is now being prepared. He adds that the 21-year-old is waiting for an agreement between the two teams and is relaxed about the situation.

Cherki appeared to say his move from Lyon to City is "getting done" following France's 5-4 Nations League loss to Spain on Thursday. The right winger, who can also play as an attacking midfielder, has reportedly agreed personal terms with the Premier League side so it may just be a matter of time before he heads to the Etihad.

Cherki, who could be a possible successor to all-time City great Kevin De Bruyne, has enjoyed a stellar season for Lyon, scoring 12 goals and adding 20 assists in all competitions for the Ligue 1 outfit.

Cherki, who is said to have a £25 million ($34m) release clause in his Lyon contract (which expires in 2026), could feature for France on Sunday against Germany in the Nations League third/fourth place play-off.
