Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney are reportedly lining up a Premier League transfer raid, with Wrexham joining the race for Brighton’s Marc Leonard.

    The 22-year-old midfielder spent the 2023-24 campaign on loan at League One outfit Northampton Town, registering five goals and six assists. His experience at that level holds obvious appeal to the Red Dragons, as they prepare for life in the third tier.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

    Leonard has, however, also caught the eye of teams in the Championship – having landed Player of the Season and Players’ Player of the Season honours at Northampton. According to TEAMtalk, the former Scotland Under-21 international is interesting Hull City, Preston North End and Plymouth Argyle.

    Leonard is due to rejoin the ranks at Brighton for pre-season training this summer, having first linked up with them in 2018. He has made just two senior appearances for the Seagulls, with two productive spells taken in at Northampton.

    WHAT NEXT?

    He is entering the final year of his contract at the Amex Stadium, which suggests that a deal could be done over the coming weeks. It is claimed that the likes of Wrexham and Plymouth – who now have Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney at the helm – would need to part with £300,000 in order to land Leonard.
