Though he has rarely been explicitly used as a number 10 during his career, Kane's tendency to drop deep and link play with his strong passing range could mean that he may adapt well to the new role if Sesko is brought in to start up front. Kane would not be the first striker to drop deeper towards the end of his career, as former England teammate Wayne Rooney often played in a midfield role in his thirties.
From a Bayern point of view, Kane turns 32 in July and so the club may feel that it is important to set up a succession plan in the form of Sesko. While it is likely that England captain Kane still has a couple of years left playing at the top of his game, his club may feel they have no choice but to act fast as their top target nears a move elsewhere.
