    WHAT HAPPENED

Oakland Roots SC hosted San Antonio FC in their 2025 USL Championship home opener at the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum Saturday, and did so in record-breaking fashion. The club sold more than 26,000 tickets for the sold-out match, breaking a USL Championship record for active clubs in the process.

San Antonio FC defeated Oakland Roots 2-1 in front of a record-breaking crowd of 26,575. That more than tripled their previous mark of 6,408 set during a double-header with Oakland Soul on June 8, 2024.
