    THE BIGGER PICTURE

One of the league’s rising defensive stars just cashed in big.

With a new deal averaging $26.5 million per season, Nik Bonitto now sits inside the NFL’s top 10 highest-paid edge rushers.

At just 25 years old, the Broncos weren’t about to let their breakout defender even sniff free agency. Fresh off a Pro Bowl campaign, Bonitto has been secured long-term after a monster 2024 in which he racked up 13.5 sacks and 48 tackles. It was his first season as a full-time starter — and he made the most of it, spearheading a Denver defense that helped push the team back into the postseason for the first time since their Super Bowl run in 2015.

    WHAT NEXT FOR BRONCOS?

Nik Bonitto isn't the only defensive cornerstone Denver has decided to secure. Earlier in August, the Broncos also locked up Zach Allen, inking the disruptive defensive lineman to a four-year pact worth $102 million. Bonitto now becomes the second major piece of that unit to sign a hefty extension this offseason.
