  • WHAT HAPPENED?

According to Sky Sport, the Stuttgart forward held a video call with Bayern boss Vincent Kompany, sporting director Christoph Freund and director of sport Max Ebrel, in which he confirmed his intention to join the Bundesliga champions.

Even though the player wants a transfer, the process is still complicated because Woltemade is under contract with Stuttgart until 2028 and doesn't have a release clause.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Bayern are actively rebuilding under Kompany after the team intends to achieve both domestic and European dominance in the 2025-26 season. The addition of Woltemade would bring a promising young talent into the squad, especially with the club aiming to reinforce their attack around key figures like Harry Kane and Jamal Musiala.

Stuttgart, however, are reluctant to sell one of their brightest prospects, who lifted the DFB-Pokal in his first year at the club. On the other hand, Bayern want to tie the striker to a five-year contract, but the deal depends on Stuttgart.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Woltemade scored 17 goals and provided three assists in 33 appearances for Stuttgart last season. He is also Germany’s top scorer at the ongoing U21 European Championship with six goals and three assists in four games.

    WHAT NEXT FOR BAYERN MUNICH?

Bayern are expected to formally open negotiations with Stuttgart following the conclusion of the U21 European Championship, where Woltemade will feature in the final against England on June 28.
