    WHAT HAPPENED?

Mourinho was sacked by Roma in January but he has now confirmed that he would like to get back to work this summer, and has refused to rule out the prospect of taking another Portuguese club job, having left his homeland in 2004 to manage Chelsea for the first time.

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Since beginning his career as manager of Benfica, Mourinho has never been out of work for more than a year, even if he does only tend to last around three years as manager of each club he is appointed to. Of course, during his time in Portugal, he guided Porto to two league titles, as well as triumphs in both the UEFA Cup and the Champions League.

  • WHAT MOURINHO SAID

Asked about the prospect of returning to management in his homeland, Mourinho told reporters while attending Moto GP's Portuguese Grand Prix: "Zero news. I don't have a club, I'm free. But I want to work, in the summer I want to work."

He added: "Never say no, especially in football. My life is football. I can train anywhere and I have no problems."

    WHAT NEXT?

Mourinho may well be sat by the phone as the summer transfer window nears and domestic football draws to a close for another season. It remains to be seen where he will end up, but the former Chelsea and Real Madrid boss will likely be in high demand once again.
