Mohamed Salah gives telling reaction after Declan Rice makes Premier League title admission

Salah and Rice were both included in the PFA Premier League Team of the Year during the awards ceremony on Tuesday night. The Egypt international's Liverpool side beat the England midfielder's Arsenal to win the Premier League title last year, with ten points ultimately separating the two clubs.

Rice was interviewed on stage and admitted finishing second three seasons in a row has been "really tough" for the Gunners, who are hoping to finally make that last step to claim more silverware with manager Mikel Arteta. Salah appeared to glance towards Reds team-mate Virgil van Dijk, though it looked to be a fleeting moment with little malicious intent.

Rice said: "It's been really tough, coming second three years in a row. But I've said it before, in life you've got to go through some small losses in order to win and we're going to keep going, we're going to keep pushing, and hopefully something can come for us."

Salah himself knows what it's like to perform exceptionally without the reward of silverware. Liverpool were beaten in the 2018 Champions League final before winning the competition a year later, while the Merseysiders often came second in thrilling title races with Pep Guardiola's Manchester City.

Arsenal and Liverpool both picked up victories during the opening weekend of the 2025-26 Premier League season. Salah, who won the PFA Players' Player of the Year award, will be in action at Newcastle on Monday night, while Arsenal host Leeds on Saturday.
