Liverpool's game with Man Utd to go ahead as Red Devils fans fear mauling away at Premier League leaders

On Saturday night, adverse weather in the north of England led to suggestions Liverpool's game with Manchester United could be postponed, with meetings held between safety boards the following morning. However, authorities have decided that the match will go ahead as planned, with kick-off at Anfield set for 4:30pm GMT.

Liverpool and United fans were broadly in agreement that this will spell bad news for the Red Devils, who come into the fixture in awful form.

United are going through a rough patch having won just two out of the nine matches they played in December across all competitions. They have lost three consecutive matches in the Premier League and are currently 14th in the table. The Reds, on the other hand, have lost just one league game in 2024-25 thus far and have a five-point lead at the top with two games in hand.

Liverpool follow Sunday's game with a trip to Tottenham in midweek in the Carabao Cup. After facing their rivals in extreme weather conditions, United will next face Arsenal in the FA Cup on January 12 at Emirates Stadium.
