    WHAT HAPPENED?

Guehi has made the most of his opportunity to start for England at this summer's European Championship - he's arguably been the Three Lions' best player - and his performances have apparently attracted the attention of none other than Real Madrid - as The Sun reports.

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Real are keen to sign a new centre-back following the departure of Nacho, and few look primed to fill the void as well as Guehi. The Chelsea academy graduate reads the game well, has all the physical attributes required, and questions about whether he can cut it on the biggest stage have been answered at the Euros. He may also relish the chance to link up with international colleague Jude Bellingham at club level, with the Real Madrid man having shone since his big-money switch from Borussia Dortmund in 2023.

    DID YOU KNOW?

According to The Sun, Palace are seeking a similar fee to the £50 million ($64m) they will receive from Bayern Munich for Michael Olise. The South London club could be tempted to sell due to fears Guehi may run down his contract, which expires in 2026, with Barcelona, Juventus and Arsenal also said to be interested in his services.

  • WHAT NEXT FOR GUEHI?

Unfortunately for England, Guehi will miss their quarter-final clash with Switzerland on Saturday due to suspension. Guehi can blame Kieran Trippier for his second booking of the tournament, with the Newcastle United star selling his fellow defender short with a dreadful pass in England's win against Slovakia.
