Man Utd boss Ruben Amorim makes special request for club to add Acacio Valentim to backroom staff as United begin negotiations with manager's countryman

Manchester United are currently in negotiations to bring Valentim on board as part of Amorim’s staff, as per Portuguese outlet Record. The 49-year-old was specifically requested by Amorim, having worked most recently at Sporting Braga. Valentim is well-regarded in Portuguese football and is available this summer after stepping down from his role at Braga.

United are undergoing a major overhaul behind the scenes following Amorim’s arrival. After clearing out much of the previous coaching setup, the new manager has already brought in several familiar faces from his time at Sporting CP. Valentim would be another trusted addition as the club reshapes its infrastructure.

Valentim also worked with Shanghai SIPG before making the move to Braga, and could now be on his way to England.

Negotiations are ongoing, and United are reportedly confident a deal will be finalised soon. If agreed, Valentim will be the latest piece in Amorim’s staff puzzle as the Portuguese manager looks to establish a trusted and efficient team ahead of a critical 2025–26 season following their horrendous last season.
