Man United are reportedly interested in signing rising star Scalvini, who is also coveted by Juventus and Milan. Atalanta have named their price for the defender, asking suitors to pay €60 million (£52m/$66m) for his services, according to Metro.

After seeming well-stocked at centre-back at the start of the season, United have since seen their options wear thin. Lisandro Martinez has struggled to stay fit, while Varane has been in and out of the side — forcing an aging Jonny Evans into the lineup.

Faced with questions about the centre back's future at the club, the Man United boss has been non-commital: "We are talking with Rapha Varane and Anthony Martial and we have triggered the options on Lindelof, Hannibal and Wan-Bissaka."
