  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Former Arsenal star and current Como boss Fabregas is being monitored by City as they assess potential successors to long-serving manager Guardiola. The former Barcelona coach has been at the Etihad Stadium since 2016 and signed a new contract last season that will run until 2027, but FootballTransfers claim City have been impressed by Fabregas' tactical acumen during his fledgling managerial career so far and believe he could take the role in the future.

While Guardiola committed himself to City with a new deal last year, there is an acceptance he may be coming towards the end of his spell in charge and the eight-time Premier League champions are doing their due diligence for when that time comes. Fabregas has similar Barcelona DNA to Guardiola, having come through La Masia before spells in England with Arsenal and Chelsea, and has developed a reputation as one of the finest young coaches in Europe.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Fabregas helped Como win six Serie A games in a row towards the end of the 2024-25 season, with that late flurry of results seeing the Lombardy side finish tenth in Italy's top flight.
