  • WHAT HAPPENED?

In the final moments of Thursday's CONCACAF Champions Cup opener, Inter Miami found themselves down 2-1. Lionel Messi had brought them back within a goal thanks to a Suarez assist but, five minutes into stoppage time, Suarez made his mark with a goal of his own.

For that goal, Suarez combined with another former Barca teammate, Sergio Busquets. The midfielder's perfectly-placed cross fell right onto Suarez's head as he fired home a crucial away goal to level the score at 2-2.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

The goal was a massive one for Miami, who will now have the advantage heading back to South Beach. Thanks to the away goal rule, the 2-2 draw means Miami hold the lead ahead of next week's second leg, forcing Nashville to come out and attack away from home against a team that has Messi and Suarez ready to lead the line.

Inter Miami will take on CF Montreal this weekend, and it'll be interesting to see how Gerardo 'Tata' Martino manages things given his squad's age. After that, the CONCACAF Champions Cup will come back into focus when Miami host Nashville for the second leg on Thursday.
