GettyLiverpool rule OUT imminent approach for Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi as Reds draw up summer 2026 transfer plan
Liverpool won't reignite their interest in Marc Guehi in the January transfer window as they look to sign the England defender for free next summer once his Crystal Palace contract expires. The Reds were very close to landing Guehi in the summer transfer window, until Palace chairman Steve Parish pulled the plug on the deal at the 11th hour on deadline day.

WHAT HAPPENED?
After initially agreeing to sell Guehi for a £35 million ($47m) transfer fee to Liverpool, Parish decided to walk away from the deal at the last moment on deadline day, reportedly after coming under pressure from manager Oliver Glasner. Palace did not have an adequate replacement for the centre-back and, as a result, they decided to retain Guehi's services.

Guehi was reportedly upset over the failed transfer, as he had earlier informed the Eagles that he wanted to join Liverpool. The England international, who is in the final year of his contract, will not sign an extension and will walk out of the club as a free agent next summer. According to The Times, the Reds will not chase Guehi in January as they are not willing to shell out on a player who would be available for free only six months later.
