Kylian Mbappe admits he snubbed 'other offers' to join Real Madrid & explains why he didn't take No.10 jersey

On Tuesday, the France international was presented to more than 80,000 fans at Santiago Bernabeu, with the 25-year-old saying this was his "dream" move. Among other topics, the former Paris Saint-Germain star spoke about taking on the No.9 jersey, paying tribute to Los Blancos' No.10 wearer Luka Modric, and choosing the Spanish giants over teams.

He said at the presentation: "We have Modric, I'm proud to be next to him in the dressing room, with the No. 9 and the No. 10. It's not important, I don't see what I have behind the shirt, I see the goal in front. I could play with any number."

On choosing Madrid, he added: "I was convinced that this moment would come. For me, Real was the only solution. I had other offers from other clubs but I always answered the same thing: if I leave Paris it's for Real Madrid."

Mbappe is one of the best players in the world and now he is gearing up to play for, arguably, the biggest and most successful team on the planet. With new team-mate and club legend Modric extending his stay another year until 2025, the Frenchman has respected the Croatian great and joined an illustrious line of players to wear the No.9 shirt, following the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, Ronaldo, and more.

Following a disappointing Euro 2024 campaign for the forward, which included him breaking his nose, he will soon begin his pre-season campaign as Madrid try to defend their La Liga crown and Champions League trophy.
