Kai Rooney & Man Utd left stunned as Atlanta United U15s record shock 4-0 win over young Red Devils in Generation adidas Cup

Rooney played in United's first New Generation Cup game against Atlanta and was unable to help his side avoid a 4-0 defeat to Atlanta United. Rooney plays primarily as a forward for the U15 side and has been exceptional since making the jump to the U15s, recently bagging a hat-trick and two assists in a 6-4 win over Everton.

There were high hopes for United going into the season but a 4-0 defeat to begin the tournament is a dismal one. Rooney and his team-mates will have to pick themselves up, though, as they have two more group games to play. Atlanta, though, impressed, with Ivory Covington scoring twice.

United's Under-15s feature more than one player with a famous father, as Rooney has a team-mate by the name of Jacey Carrick, the son of United legend and Middlesbrough boss Michael Carrick. He has been in the academy since the age of six.

United are back in action on Sunday against Los Angeles Football Club. They will then face St Louis City on Monday.
