Joao Felix gets 900% pay rise at Barcelona! Loan star sees modest £344k salary given huge boost

With financial struggles at Camp Nou well documented, Portugal international Felix had to take a personal hit in order to see a season-long switch from Atletico Madrid pushed through during the summer of 2023. He was prepared to do that in order to link up with his “dream” club.

Felix was said to be earning just £344,440 in Catalunya – a relatively modest amount for a player of his undoubted ability – but that deal is now being brought more in line with what the 24-year-old winger is actually worth.

La Liga president Javier Tebas has confirmed that Barcelona have “multiplied the remuneration agreed between Joao and FCB by 10, for Fair Play purposes”. That agreement means that Felix is now pulling in an annual salary of £3,444,400 per year.

There has been talk of Barcelona making Felix’s move permanent but, after enjoying a bright start to the 2023-24 campaign, he has registered just six goals and three assists through 21 games this season. He was dropped to the bench for the Blaugrana’s dramatic 2-1 victory over Las Palmas last time out.
