Inter Miami re-sign Luis Suárez to one-year deal, staying with Lionel Messi and Co. in 2025

Inter Miami announced Wednesday that Luis Suarez has re-signed with the South Beach MLS side through the 2025 season after a breakout 2024 campaign.

The Uruguayan helped guide the Herons to the MLS regular season points record and the 2024 Supporters' Shield. He led the team in scoring across all competitions with 25 goals, and was tied with Messi at 20 goals during the regular season.

The 37-year-old also recorded nine assists during the regular season, and added two goal-contributions in the 2024 MLS postseason, too.

“I’m very happy, very excited to continue for another year and to be able to enjoy being here with this fanbase, which for us is like family. We feel very, very connected with them, and hopefully, next year, we can bring them even more joy,” said Suárez.

Tata Martino recently stepped down from his position as manager of the club, and they have since replaced him with Suarez and Messi's former teammate Javier Mascherano - who led Argentina's U23 squad at the Paris Olympics.

“In 2024, Luis brought to Inter Miami all of the elements that make him one of the greatest strikers of all time. He performed at an elite level for us, and we’re excited to see that continue next season,” said President of Football Operations Raúl Sanllehí. “Luis was not only our leading scorer this season, but also a leader for the group. His impact cannot be understated.”

The Uruguayan is currently in the offseason with Miami out of the playoffs, and he will have some time away from the pitch before returning to the club in January for preseason. Then, the 2025 campaign will include up to five Cup competitions on top of the regular season, including the FIFA Club World Cup.
