Inter Miami’s Lionel Messi named MLS Player of the Month for May 2025

Inter Miami CF forward Lionel Messi has been voted the MLS Player of the Month for May 2025, his first of the season. The reigning Landon Donovan MLS MVP produced an outstanding month statistically, recording seven goals and four assists to lead all players in goal contributions. Messi's performances were particularly crucial as they helped Miami end a six-game winless streak across all competitions. The eight-time Ballon d'Or winner also claimed consecutive Player of the Matchday honors in the final two weeks of May as well.

This May award marks Messi's third Player of the Month honor since joining MLS in July 2023, placing him tied for sixth-most in league history despite playing less than two full seasons. He previously claimed the award in April 2024 after leading the league in goal contributions and Miami to an undefeated month, and again in October 2024 after helping the club secure both the Supporters' Shield and the MLS points record.
