The Argentine coach hesitated before responding, "I don't like too much basket[ball]."

The question posed to Mascherano reflects a broader trend of attempting to bridge different sports cultures in the United States. The Argentine has the good fortune of coaching arguably the greatest player of all-time in soccer Lionel Messi.

Thanks to their win, Inter Miami continue their unbeaten start to the 2025 MLS season and they sit at the top of the Eastern Conference with 13 points after five league games. The Herons will hope to continue their run as they face LAFC next in the first leg of their Concacaf Champions Cup quarter-finals. They then host Toronto FC in the MLS at the Chase Stadium on April 6 before welcoming LAFC to Miami for the second leg of the quarterfinal.
