Ex-England international Scholes, who formed part of the Red Devils’ historic Treble-winning squad in 1999, has signed up for a five-a-side game that will give supporters an opportunity to play alongside their hero.

The match in question will only last 60 minutes and will involve a squad of 15 players. Substitutions will be made every three minutes, meaning that those taking to the field will not get to enjoy a full match in Scholes’ company.

They are, however, parting with £750 plus a service fee of £18.75 for the right to be involved. The game in question will take place on September 3 on the rooftop pitch at Hotel Football in Manchester - which is owned by Scholes’ former team-mates Gary Neville and Ryan Giggs.

A source has told The Sun, with the event - which also includes a selfie with Scholes, one autograph, a burger and fries - already sold out: “Every United fan dreams of having a kickabout with their heroes but they will be hoping for ‘Fergie time’ so they get a bit longer on the pitch with Scholesy.”
