The report adds Ajax figureheads repeatedly met with Potter over taking on the job at the Amsterdam outfit and positive talks were held. While the job itself was an attractive one for the ex-Swansea City manager, they reportedly could not satisfy him enough financially.
DID YOU KNOW?
Potter began his coaching career at Swedish side Ostersunds, where he was able to take them from the fourth tier to the top division in five years. From there, he had one season at Swansea, before joining Brighton in 2019 - where he turned them from a Premier League relegation candidate to a top 10 side over three seasons. However, he lasted less than seven months in charge at Stamford Bridge.
