Gio still smiling! USMNT star Reyna in positive mood during Nottingham Forest loan despite seeing just 29 minutes of game time

United States international Gio Reyna is still smiling at Nottingham Forest despite seeing just 29 minutes of game time for the Reds so far.

WHAT HAPPENED?
The 21-year-old playmaker opted to take on a Premier League challenge during the January transfer window. Having also found regular opportunities hard to come by at Borussia Dortmund this season, a short-term loan agreement was put in place.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Reyna is eager to avoid suffering the same fate as fellow USMNT stars Weston McKennie, Brenden Aaronson and Tyler Adams when it comes to stints in England – as they all suffered relegation with Leeds last season - but faces fierce competition for a place at the City Ground.

Reyna is most comfortable when filing a No.10 role, but Morgan Gibbs-White is a talismanic presence for Forest in that position. He is also struggling to see opportunities in wide attacking posts as Anthony Elanga and Callum Hudson-Odoi continue to thrive on the flanks at present.
