Five-goal Mason Greenwood makes ‘100% summer signings team’ after leaving Man Utd for Marseille in £27m transfer

The one-cap England international has reached that mark through just four outings in the French top-flight – with only one appearance taken in so far that saw him fail to find the target. He bagged a brace on debut against Brest and has kept momentum rolling from there.

Marseille are seeing an immediate return on the investment of faith and funds that they made in Greenwood. While others shied away from a deal in the summer transfer window, the French outfit stumped up £27 million ($36m).

Manchester United sanctioned that sale, while including a sell-on clause in the deal, and have seen a product of their academy system build on the foundations that he put in place during a loan spell at Getafe last season.

Greenwood has been named Marseille’s Player of the Month for August and has also earned a place in the team of best-value arrivals that has been pieced together by Ligue 1. He is joined in those ranks by team-mates Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Geronimo Rulli.
