- Arsenal and Man City go for title
- Gunners face Everton at Emirates
- Saka not in final matchday squad
WHAT HAPPENED?
Arsenal are gearing up for their final game of the season against Everton at the Emirates but their chances of securing the win and the Premier League title have received a blow as Saka will not play in the 4pm clash. He was surprisingly left out of Mikel Arteta's matchday squad, with concerns raised over his physical condition.
THE EXPLAINER
According to Evening Standard journalist, Simon Collings, the England international has been left out of this crucial clash due to a 'slight muscle injury'. That is a big blow for the Gunners and a boost to league leaders Manchester City, who face West Ham at home and have a two-point cushion over Mikel Arteta's men. As a result, Gabriel Martinelli replaces Saka in the starting XI.
THE BIG PICTURE
There is no doubt this is a setback for Arsenal as Saka has scored 20 goals and bagged 14 assists this season. The Gunners are bidding to win their first Premier League title since 2004 and they need a number of factors to go their way to make that possible. Losing Saka for the visit of the Toffees is far from ideal. Moreover, they still need City to drop points at the Etihad against West Ham to pip them to the title.
