  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Barcelona prodigy Yamal has been catching the eye on a senior international stage, helping Spain to the quarter-finals and a heavyweight showdown with Germany. Kit suppliers adidas have produced a special pair of custom boots for the exciting winger.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Said footwear has the flags of Morocco and Equatorial Guinea stitched into them. Yamal is honouring those countries as the respective birth places of his father and mother. Morocco had hoped to see him pledge allegiance to them at one stage, with president of their FA - Fouzi Lekjaa – saying in 2023: “We conveyed our project to him and his family, but Lamine was already convinced about going to Spain. Spain and Morocco are separated by 14 kilometres, and it is normal for these things to happen. I respect Lamine.”
