  • WHAT HAPPENED?

De Gea had a stunning performance against Milan in Serie A on Sunday evening, saving two penalties as his side won 2-1 in Florence. Both Theo Hernandez and Tammy Abraham missed from the spot, with De Gea twice standing tall from 12 yards. Moise Kean also missed a penalty for Fiorentina. It is a remarkable turnaround; at Manchester United, De Gea only saved seven penalties across the span of 12 years, but some Red Devils fans are now feeling nostalgic about the Spaniard, who wasn't offered the chance to extend his contract at Old Trafford beyond June 2023.

    WHAT NEXT?

After the international break, Fiorentina play Lecce in Serie A, with De Gea likely to get the nod in goal again. They are currently 11th in Serie A, but will hope to start pushing for the European places after a huge win against Milan, who were one of the pre-season favourites for the title.
