  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Maresca took charge of a Chelsea squad that did not see much success in the last two seasons having finished outside the top-four in back-to-back Premier League campaigns. The Italian coach had to bring in major changes in the team in terms of tactics and so far his work is being reflected in the club's performance. The Blues have made an impressive start to the 2024/25 season having lost just once in their last nine outings and are currently seventh in the league with just two defeats.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

The former Manchester City assistant coach recently acknowledged his players' hard work on and off the pitch while claiming that watching his players develop and react positively to his tactics has been one of the 'best moments' of his short stint at the Blues.

  • WHAT ENZO MARESCA SAID

Speaking to reporters, the 44-year-old said, "Absolutely [the players can see the tactical changes themselves]. I can see not only on the pitch but also when we have team meetings with video clips, you can see that sometimes the players start to recognise for themselves solutions. ‘For me as head coach, it is one of the best moments because you can see they are learning and they are very grateful for that."
