Enzo Fernandez's wife confirms separation from Chelsea star in heartbreaking Instagram post

The Chelsea star has been below par with his performances for the Blues and the reason for his struggles on the pitch may now have been revealed. His wife Valentina has posted on social media confirming that they are separating. The couple have two children together and they both hope to have a smooth and peaceful process going forward.

On Instagram, Cervantes said: "Enzo and I have decided to take some distance from each other today. But we will always be family, and we will support each other in everything. Because there are two children involved who need a lot of love from us. I know the person Enzo is and what an excellent father he is, as well as the heart he has. And that is enough for me. Please don't try to create conflicts where there are none."

Fernandez was also recently hit with a driving ban and it seems his off-the-pitch issues are translating to his career. Head coach Enzo Maresca seems to have little faith in the Argentina midfielder, dropping him to the bench for Chelsea's last two Premier League games.

Despite his struggles, Fernandez will hope to be back on the pitch to help his team recover from their Carabao Cup elimination at the hands of Newcastle on Wednesday. Chelsea travel to Manchester United on Sunday and will need their players to be at their best to defeat a Red Devils side that seem to have been boosted by the appointment of Ruud van Nistelrooy as interim coach.
