David Beckham says he 'rarely' hears his name at Old Trafford

<p>The ex-England captain <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/manchester-uniteds-90s-golden-generation-beckham-giggs-neville--the-players-who-broke-through-youth-team/1mdraxbpx2u5c1c4bmw2vfs1b8" target="_blank">formed part of the fabled Class of ‘92</a> that stepped out of the club's famed youth system to enjoy considerable success at senior level. Beckham is a six-time Premier League title winner and was a prominent figure in <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/manchester-united-1999-champions-league-finalists-where-are-they-now/1205j1fujkzu61p7i5qenlgxl4" target="_blank">United’s historic 1999 Treble triumph</a>.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>A <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/football-fall-outs-david-beckham-v-sir-alex-ferguson/blt62ca6aad6c2cb3eb" target="_blank">falling out with iconic coach Sir Alex Ferguson</a> led to Beckham severing ties with the club that he supported as a boy, with a transfer to Real Madrid completed in 2003. Becks would go on to spend time with the LA Galaxy, AC Milan and <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/lionel-messi-david-beckham-kylian-mbappe-snubbed-formula-1-star-pierre-gasly-surprise-psg-hero/blt54e58433c60242a1" target="_blank">Paris Saint-Germain before hanging up his boots in 2013</a>.</p>

<p>The 49-year-old is <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/david-beckham-explains-why-inter-miami-signed-lionel-messi-transfer-million-messages/blt2b5678fd0dc2cb12 " target="_blank">now a co-owner at MLS side Inter Miami</a>, giving him little time in which to catch live United games in Manchester, but he is still a Red Devils fan and wants supporters to recognise his efforts on a more frequent basis. Beckham has told <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=igmUnkx0fBw&amp;t=2s" target="_blank"><em>‘First We Feast’</em></a>: “The fans sing a lot about older players and players from the past, but I never seem to hear it as much. Maybe because I don’t go to many games, but even on the telly I hear songs about Eric Cantona and Bryan Robson and Roy Keane from Manchester United fans, but I very rarely hear, ‘There’s only one David Beckham.’ That was only really the only chant that I wanted to hear and I’d like to hear it again, if any United fans are watching, please! Just from time to time. I’m still a United fan. Every now and again, ‘There’s only one David Beckham.’”</p>

<p>Beckham took in 394 appearances for United, scoring 85 goals.
