Dani Olmo's move to Barcelona is already turning into a huge mess

Dani Olmo is in a limbo as Ilkay Gundogan and Vitor Roque's departures are reportedly not enough for Barcelona to register their £51 million signing.

WHAT HAPPENED?
According to AS, with just nine days remaining until the summer transfer window slams shut, Barcelona’s sporting director Deco is racing against time to register Olmo. Although the departure of Gundogan to Manchester City will free up approximately €20 million (£17m/$22m) in gross annual wages and Roque is set to join Real Betis on loan, the Catalan club must offload a few more players to be able to register the Spanish forward.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Mika Faye's departure was nearly finalized with Rennes, but last-minute interest from Lille, PSV, and Besiktas have complicated matters. Barcelona are aiming to secure around €15m (£13m/$17m) for Faye while retaining some form of control over his future, conditions that have slowed down the negotiations.
DID YOU KNOW?
Another player whose exit is proving to be a challenge is Clement Lenglet. Barcelona are eager to offload the French defender, preferably through a permanent transfer, but his hefty salary is a significant obstacle. No European club seems willing or able to match his wages, and Lenglet himself is not interested in moving to a lower-tier league like Saudi Arabia. His preference is to join Atletico Madrid on loan, but an agreement between the two clubs has yet to be reached.

Barcelona's current transfer conundrum is emblematic of the club's broader financial struggles. The inability to register Olmo despite high-profile departures underscores the delicate balancing act Barcelona must perform to navigate La Liga’s stringent financial rules. The next few days will be critical for Barcelona as they attempt to resolve these complex issues and bring some stability to their financial and sporting projects.
