England star Cole Palmer details Euro 2024 aspirations and reveals favourite goal he's scored for Chelsea

Palmer has set his sights high at his first senior international tournament, having made his England debut as recently as November and with only two caps to his name by the time he was picked for Gareth Southgate's preliminary Euro 2024 squad.

"There's a lot of talent in the squad, everyone can see that. I'm thrilled I can go there to represent England, we've got amazing players. Hopefully the team can gel together and try to win a tournament. The fans are amazing and I just want to do everyone proud," Palmer told the Daily Mirror.

"I knew a few of the seniors from City and Chelsea and it was good to be there but it was very different to the under 21s. I've only been twice so I'm not used to it but hopefully getting picked will help me get used to it. It's different because it’s more intense, there's pros who have been involved for many years. It's great."

Palmer's club form for Chelsea, 25 goals across all competitions in 2023-24, is what made him an obvious pick for Southgate. At times throughout the campaign, he carried the otherwise struggling Blues and his goals were important as well as numerous. His 101st-minute strike against Manchester United in April, the latest winner in Premier League history, stands out as one of his favourites in Chelsea colours so far.

Palmer said: "I like the United one probably just for pure emotion. The Evertonone at home, the one at Old Trafford. I've had a few that I like."

Competition for places is strong, but Palmer will be hoping to play as big a role as he can at Euro 2024. England have warm-up friendlies against Bosnia & Herzegovina and Iceland coming up in the first week of June, before Southgate must cut seven players to go to the final tournament in Germany. The first group game against Serbia will then take place on June 16.
