Club America superstar Jonathan Rodriguez to MLS? Unnamed side make ambitious bid for Liga MX goalscoring sensation

According to Record, via ex-USMNT star Herculez Gomez, the prolific goalscoring Uruguayan has already 'agreed to terms' with an unnamed MLS team ahead of a blockbuster transfer. He has 21 goals in 60 appearances for America since arriving in 2022.

Uruguay international Rodriguez has 31 caps for the South American country and has been a mainstay in the list of top players in CONCACAF for a near decade now. A brief six-month stint abroad in Saudi Arabia interrupted that in 2022, but he has played in Mexico since 2015.

If Rodriguez does move to MLS, it will warrant a hefty transfer fee and likely an open DP slot. However, he would be a welcomed addition to any club in the league.

His 2022 stint in Saudi Arabia was with Al-Nassr, where he made nine appearances and scoring one goal before returning to Mexico in July with Club America. He played alongside Cristiano Ronaldo at the club.

The Uruguayan will remain a Club America player until further notice, but speculation will start to rise with the MLS season on the horizon. The first game of the campaign arrives Wednesday, February 21 as Lionel Messi and Inter Miami arrive on the scene to take on Real Salt Lake.
