Christian Eriksen asking price revealed with former club Ajax interested in Man Utd midfielder

According to The Athletic,the Dutch giants are keen to re-sign Eriksen, who has one year remaining on his contract at Old Trafford. However, they must address its financial situation before finalizing any new signings as reports indicate that Ajax may need to offload players to balance their books, which could complicate the deal.

United, for their part, appear open to the idea of offloading Eriksen this summer and are reportedly asking for a transfer fee of at least £5 million ($6.51m) for the 32-year-old midfielder. Last season, Eriksen struggled to secure a regular spot in the starting lineup, making just 12 starts in the Premier League and totalling 28 appearances across all competitions. He is clearly not in the primary plans of Erik ten Hag and hence Ajax are hopeful to bring him back to Amsterdam where he first made a name for himself.

Nonetheless, Eriksen had earlier publicly addressed the speculation surrounding his future, making it clear that he is currently focused on his contract with United.

"I have one year left, so for me, I am a United player," Eriksen stated in a recent interview during the pre-season.

"I haven't been told to leave or that there’s an extension coming, so in that sense, I have one year left on the contract, and I feel good. My family is feeling good living in Manchester, and United is a nice club. In terms of the football you want to play as much as possible. But also you think in terms of: 'How do I see myself? How do I fit into the team?' And in those terms I feel good. I feel that I am in a good place.”

Despite his positive outlook, Eriksen’s situation at United remains uncertain. In the Premier League opener against Fulham, a match that ended in a narrow 1-0 victory for the Red Devils, Eriksen was an unused substitute. This has fuelled further speculation about his role at the club under manager Erik ten Hag.

With competition for places in United’s midfield, along with the impending inclusion of Manuel Ugarte, Eriksen could find it increasingly difficult to secure regular playing time. Hence a move away could be the best option for the Dane.
