  • WHAT FRANK LAMPARD SAID

While discussing Lampard's peculiar style of giving interviews on the Stick to Football podcast, Jamie Carragher asked the former Chelsea manager: "Can I ask you one thing? You must be aware when you're managing and when you do your interviews and you do that thing where you're laughing and then you go serious?"

Lampard responded by saying: "Yeah, I've seen. My daughter sent it to me loads."

Carragher later asked: "Do you know when you're doing it? Or are you thinking about it?"

To which he replied: "Nah I've tried to stop it now. No, I have! My daughter sent it to me ages ago. It was a meme, or whatever they call it. But now I've seen it I can't unsee it. But I've done a few press conferences where I've done it and then you think 'oh sh*t, I've just done that'. You know what I mean, I can't help it!"

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

The 45-year-old began his managerial career with Derby in the Championship in 2018. After guiding the club to the play-offs in the 2018-19 campaign, Chelsea roped him in the subsequent season. He lasted at Stamford Bridge until January 2021 after which Thomas Tuchel replaced him at the helm. Exactly a year later, Lampard returned to coaching, this time in charge of Everton in the Premier League. In January 2023, Sean Dyche replaced him at Goodison Park and four months later he returned to the Blues and took charge of the team as caretaker manager after Graham Potter was sacked.
