    WHAT HAPPENED

    Caden Clark, the 21-year-old CF Montréal midfielder, made his United States Men’s National Team debut during the January camp, quickly making an impact. He provided an assist for Jack McGlynn’s opener against Venezuela in his debut match and followed it up by scoring a goal in his second appearance against Costa Rica. Clark’s strong performances came as no surprise to fans, given his impressive form for CF Montréal toward the end of the 2024 season.

    In a behind-the-scenes moment captured by the Behind The Crest docuseries by U.S. Soccer, an emotional Clark reflected during the postgame celebration. He expressed gratitude to head coach Mauricio Pochettino and his staff for giving him the opportunity to shine.

    “This is probably one of the biggest moments of my life especially coming back from January camp three years ago where and I was one of the only players who didn’t play. So thank you to the staff and to everybody for being with me in this moment and helping me,” Clark said.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

    After arriving via a midseason trade with Minnesota United, Caden Clark thrived at CF Montreal towards the end of the 2024 MLS season. So much so, that he looked like a reinvigorated star, contributing to eight goals by the end of the season for the club. That includes a man-of-the-match performance against New York City FC, where he scored and assisted, in the final game of the season to ensure that Montreal kept its playoff spot.
