Bayern Munich make final decision on Nicolas Jackson transfer after Chelsea opt to bring back Senegal striker amid Liam Delap injury concerns

Jackson's dream of playing for Bayern is over as the German champions have decided not to pursue a move for the Senegalese forward before the summer window closes, according to Sky Sports' Florian Plettenberg. Bayern have pulled out of the deal and the player and his representative Ali Barat will now return to London.

Jackson, 24, had travelled to Germany after Bayern reached an agreement with Chelsea to sign the striker on a season-long loan with an option to buy in a total package worth £69 million (€80m/$93.5m). However, Chelsea informed Bayern they will not be proceeding with the deal after Delap sustained a hamstring injury in their 2-0 victory over Fulham in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

Earlier in the summer, Jackson was deemed surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge following the arrivals of Delap and Joao Pedro from Ipswich Town and Brighton and Hove Albion respectively. However, following Delap's injury, Enzo Maresca had only Pedro as his sole proper forward in his squad and that prompted him to call back Jackson.

Chelsea will be back in action after the international break on September 13 as they play Brentford in a crucial Premier League away fixture.
