Barcelona still open to selling Frenkie de Jong after out-of-sorts midfielder was targeted by BOOS from his own fans

The most glaring indication of fan discontent came in the form of boos directed at him during the Champions League victory over Brest, a stark contrast to the warm reception for emerging talents like Marc Casado.

According to The Athletic, as the January transfer window approaches they remain open to offloading him off the roster as the financial relief a transfer could provide is tempting. The emergence of young midfielders like Casado and Marc Bernal, coupled with Gavi's versatility, makes De Jong’s position seem surplus to requirements.

Despite the challenges, De Jong remains determined to prove himself. The 26-year-old midfielder has expressed his desire to stay at Barcelona and rebuild his reputation on the pitch. His family is also reportedly settled in the city, adding a personal dimension to his commitment to the club.
