Barcelona hit with Fermin Lopez blow as midfielder walks off in tears amid injury fears after Getafe win

  • Fermin Lopez injury scare

Soon after the final whistle of the game, Lopez lay down on the pitch, holding his groin and the back of his leg as the medical team quickly jumped onto the pitch to assess him. Barcelona's club doctor, Ricard Pruna, did an initial assessment of the situation as the player later entered the tunnel with Flick hugging and consoling an emotional Lopez. The 22-year-old was substituted in for Ferran Torres in the 60th minute after starting in Barca's midweek fixture against Newcastle.

    Flick's update on situation

In the post-match press conference, the Barca head coach confirmed Lopez's injury. He also shared that tests will be conducted on Monday, after which the club will be able to determine the extent of the Spaniard's injury and how long Lopez will be out. This comes across as a huge disappointment for Lopez, who recently found his stride in the team and was getting ample chances after declining to join Chelsea in the summer. The midfielder has played five games this season in which he has scored two goals.

  • Barcelona's injury woes continue

The Blaugrana have been hit with a string of injuries. Lamine Yamal has been out since the international break with Spain, as Flick explained that he is taking precautions and assessing his return on a day-to-day basis. Gavi is also out, with the club still pondering their next steps and waiting to see how his body recovers in the meantime.
