Arsenal have made a storming start to the new season.

Six wins from seven games have sent Arsenal into the international break sitting at the summit of the Premier League, one point clear of Manchester City and Tottenham.

But who have been the stand out players for the Gunners so far this season, and who could still do a little bit more?

GOAL takes a look below, rating each and every member of Mikel Arteta's table-topping squad...

  • Mohamed Elneny ArsenalGetty Images

    21Mohamed Elneny - 5/10

It looked like Elneny was going to get a run in the side when Partey picked up his injury, only for the Egypt star to suffer his own injury issue after just one match.

That start against Fulham remains his only appearance of the season and it might be 2023 before we see the midfielder back in action.

  • Emile Smith Rowe Arsenal 2022

    20Emile Smith Rowe - 5/10

It’s been a season full of frustration so far from Smith Rowe.

The attacking midfielder continues to struggle with injury, as he has done throughout 2022, and has been unable to play any meaningful part in the campaign so far.

His troublesome groin issue currently has him sidelined and it’s unclear when he will return.

  • Matt Turner Arsenal 2022Getty

    19Matt Turner 5/10

We’ve only had one look at Matt Turner so far and he didn’t have too much to do in that game against FC Zurich in the Europa League.

Some slightly nervy performances during pre-season have left fans with some question marks over the ability of the club’s new deputy to Ramsdale, but it will be a little while yet before we really get to judge his capabilities.

  • Rob Holding Arsenal

    18Rob Holding - 5/10

Holding has made just two substitute appearances in the Premier League this season, coming on in the 88th and 89th minute.

He did start in the Europa League, however, and remains a key figure in the squad.

There is no doubt that he would want to play more, but his influence behind the scenes is something that Arteta really appreciates.

  • Aaron Ramsdale Arsenal pre-season 2022Getty Images

    17Aaron Ramsdale - 6/10

It’s been a mixed start to the season for Ramsdale.

His performances have been solid, if not spectacular – but he has looked nervy at times.

There have been moments when he has just about got away with some risky passes out from the back and there have been a couple of goals that he really should have done better with, most notably against Leicester and Aston Villa.

  • takehiro-tomiyasu(C)Getty Images

    16Takehiro Tomiyasu - 6/10

It’s been a frustrating start to the season for Tomiyasu, who has lost his place in the starting XI to Ben White.

But he has still come on in six of Arsenal’s seven Premier League games and started the Europa League win against FC Zurich.

Tomiyasu has been solid when called upon and the fact he now finds himself amongst the substitutes highlights Arsenal's greater strength in depth this season.

  • Marquinhos Arsenal FC Zurich 2022-23Getty Images

    15Marquinhos - 6/10

An exciting talent who showed what he is capable of in his only start so far, against FC Zurich in the Europa League.

He scored and got an assist in that game, so you can’t really ask for much more from an attacker.

Marquinhos is still very raw and opportunities in the Premier League might be few and far between for now, but he clearly has real potential.

  • Sambi Lokonga Arsenal 2022-23Getty Images

    14Sambi Lokonga - 6/10

Lokonga has had three starts this season, two in the league and one in Europe.

His performances in the absence of Partey and Elneny were solid, although he did feel a bit exposed at times during the defeat at Old Trafford.

But Lokonga’s potential has been clear during his performances and he will have a big part to play this season, especially in the Europa League.

  • Kieran Tierney Arsenal

    13Kieran Tierney - 6/10

Tierney had to bide his time due to the fine form of Zinchenko in the opening weeks of the season.

When he did feature, he looked a bit sluggish and couldn’t quite match the Ukrainian in terms of his quality in the final third.

But Tierney produced his best performance of the season in the win at Brentford before the international break and looks to be getting back towards full fitness.

  • Vieira-Arsenal-2022-23Getty

    12Fabio Vieira - 6/10

We’ve still only seen fleeting glimpses of Vieira, but those have been enough to suggest Arsenal have an exciting talent on their hands.

Injury ruled the club’s summer signing out of pre-season and he had to wait until the game against Manchester United to make his debut.

But he showed real potential in those limited minutes off the bench and then his two starts – against Zurich and Brentford – were full of promising moments.

The goal he scored against Brentford was excellent and another little glimpse into why Arsenal were so keen to bring him to the club from Porto.

  • Bukayo Saka Arsenal 2022-23Getty Images

    11Bukayo Saka - 7/10

It’s quite difficult to really judge Saka’s start to the season.

On one hand, he has four assists and one goal in seven Premier League appearances – numbers that very few could argue with.

But, on the other hand, it’s pretty clear that the young winger has still not quite hit his best form.

So, it’s been a bit of a mixed bag so far for Saka. You feel there is still plenty more to come.

  • Eddie Nketiah Arsenal Zurich 2022-23Getty Images

    10Eddie Nketiah - 7/10

Nketiah has had to bide his time so far this season and has yet to start a Premier League game.

But he has come on in every single match so far and started in the Europa League against FC Zurich, when he got an assist and scored the winner.

The young striker now looks strong and his late cameos in the Premier League have been impressive.

He will now just want to get his chance from the start.

  • Arsenal midfielder and Ghana Thomas Partey.Getty.

    9Thomas Partey - 7/10

When Partey plays, Arsenal are a better side. It’s as simple as that.

Unfortunately, he has been unable to really enjoy a consistent run in the team since his move from Atletico Madrid due to injury.

Even at this early stage of the season he has struggled, missing three league games.

When he has played, however, he has been excellent. Just as he was on his recent return to the starting XI against Brentford.

  • Gabriel Magalhães Arsenal 2022Getty Images

    8Gabriel Maghalaes 8/10

There have been a few lapses of concentration from Gabriel so far this season, most notably against Fulham when he gifted Aleksandar Mitrovic a goal.

But the Brazilian has performed well on the whole and he even responded to that mistake against Fulham by going on to score the winner.

He might not have hit the heights of Saliba, but it’s still been a solid start to the season by the big centre-back.

  • Oleksandr Zinchenko 22-23 arsenalGetty Images

    7Oleksandr Zinchenko - 8/10

The only complaint you can have with Zinchenko is that he has only been able to make four league starts due to injury.

But when he has played, the Ukraine international has looked excellent.

His ability to move into midfield from left-back has given Arsenal an extra edge going forward.

If he can stay fit, Zinchenko has already shown he will make a big impact this season.

  • Martin Odegaard Arsenal 2022-23Getty

    6Martin Odegaard - 8/10

Arsenal’s new captain has really stepped up during the early stages of the season. He’s already scored three goals and has set the tone with his pressing and work ethic.

Odegaard has enjoyed a fine start to the campaign and Arsenal will be hoping his current injury is nothing serious.

  • Gabriel Martinelli Arsenal 2022-23Getty

    5Gabriel Martinelli - 8/10

The Brazilian has had a fine start to the season. He’s already scored three times and looks a constant threat whenever he has played.

Martinelli has added so much to his game over the past year and now looks a well-rounded Premier League player.

  • Ben White; Arsenal; 2022-23Getty

    4Ben White - 8/10

White may have been playing out of position all season, but he has been doing an excellent job at right-back.

He served notice of his ability to operate on the right side of the back four with a fine performance against Wilfried Zaha on the opening night of the season.

And he has continued to perform at the highest level since then, putting in displays that make a mockery of Gareth Southgate’s decision to leave him out of the England squad.

  • Xhaka-Arsenal-2022-22Getty

    3Granit Xhaka - 9/10

The surprise package of the season so far.

Xhaka has been nothing short of superb during since the start of the campaign and is clearly revelling in the more advanced midfield role he is now being asked to play in.

He has already amassed three assists in the league and found the net himself in the win against Leicester.

A real leader who continues to silence his doubters.

  • Gabriel JesusGetty Images

    2Gabriel Jesus - 9/10

What a start Jesus has had to life at Arsenal.

The Brazil striker has been a breath of fresh air and has transformed Arsenal’s attack.

He has scored four goals in his first seven league games and could easily have had a few more.

Jesus has been a sensation and is already looking like £45 million ($50m) well spent.

  • William Saliba Arsenal 2022-23Getty

    1William Saliba - 9/10

Saliba started the season under so much scrutiny given the long wait he had to endure before making his Arsenal debut.

Some players his age would have crumbled under that pressure, but he has excelled, producing a series of fabulous performances.

He has taken to the Premier League with ease and has formed an excellent partnership at the back with Gabriel Magalhaes.

Saliba has also proven to be a threat at the other end, scoring two valuable goals already.
