Harry Kane getting another England ally at Bayern Munich? Newcastle full-back Kieran Trippier being targeted by Bundesliga giants in January transfer window

The German giants acquired Three Lions captain Kane when doing a €100 million (£86m/$109m) deal with Tottenham in the summer of 2023. They returned to raid the ranks at Spurs early in 2024, with versatile 30-year-old Eric Dier lured to the Allianz Arena.

According to The Telegraph, Bayern are ready to stick with that recruitment theme as they head back to the Premier League. Experienced Newcastle full-back Trippier is said to be in their sights, with Thomas Tuchel admitting to wanting reinforcements in that area.

Bayern boss Tuchel has said of his transfer plans: “We are looking for a right-back who is strong in duels. We’ll see if something is possible. Nous Mazraoui is at the Africa Cup, but we have also gotten used to Konrad Laimer at right-back, even though it’s not his best position. If there’s an opportunity on the market, we’ll take it. Otherwise things will stay this way.”

Former Tottenham star Trippier returned to English football from Atletico Madrid in January 2022. He helped to lead Newcastle to a top-four finish and Champions League qualification, winning their Player of the Year award last season. He could now be taken back to continental Europe, with Bayern eager to reinforce their ranks as they look to chase down Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga title race.
