  • WHAT HAPPENED?

The Red Devils are preparing for a meeting with arch-rivals Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday. A battle to line-up between the sticks has dominated plenty of discussions prior to that contest taking place.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

United have bid farewell to Andre Onana, with the Cameroon international linking up with Turkish side Trabzonspor on a season-long loan. He has been cast adrift after making a number of costly errors during his time at Old Trafford.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Belgian shot-stopper Lammens was acquired late in the summer transfer window, and is considered to be a long-term No.1 option for United at 23 years of age, but he is still adjusting to the demands of life in English football.

    WHAT AMORIM SAID

With that in mind, Amorim told reporters when delivering a pre-match update on his selection plans: "Altay is going to continue. Different league, different country, different ball. They will fight for the position. It is clear. Altay will start. He is ready to play, he will play.”

He added on Lammens: "We are really pleased, he is a goalkeeper with a lot of potential. We are in a moment where we need a goalkeeper to be really strong, have a lot of experience, but also in a moment we have to look at the present, but with focus on the future, a little bit both. He is one more option to play. He will be ready."

  • WHAT NEXT FOR MAN UTD?

Amorim confirmed that Mason Mount, Matheus Cunha and Diogo Dalot are all nursing injuries. That situation is doing little to aid United’s cause, with four points being picked up through three Premier League games at the start of the 2025-26 campaign - one more than Pep Guardiola and City have managed.
