Vikings vs Chargers Picks

Minnesota to Rely on Mason  - Jordan Mason First Half Anytime TD Scorer (+250)

Over the last few weeks, the Los Angeles Chargers have been god awful at stopping the run. In its previous five games, LA has given up well over five yards per rushing attempt. The Chargers have also allowed a first-half rushing touchdown in each of their last four games.

Meanwhile, Vikings running back Jordan Mason has scored touchdowns in back-to-back outings. All four of his TDs this season have also come in the last four games. Expect the Vikings to rely heavily on Mason tonight and exploit the Chargers’ weak defensive line.

Neither Carson Wentz nor J.J. McCarthy has been particularly impressive this season at QB, so Mason should get the ball early and in red zone situations. Take Mason to score a touchdown in the first half, at +250 odds.

Defensive Deficiencies on Display - Over 44.5 Points (-110)

Stopping the run is a well-known concern for the Chargers, and they’ve given up over 30 points per game over their last three. While the Vikings’ defensive numbers for the season are relatively good, they’ve been getting lit up recently in the air.

Minnesota has given up 9.2 yards per pass attempt during its last three games. Jalen Hurts managed to throw for 326 yards on just 23 attempts in the Eagles’ 28-22 win over the Vikings on Sunday.

Chargers QB Justin Herbert ranks first in the NFL in passing yards and could have a big game.

Given both teams’ defensive deficiencies over the last few games, it wouldn’t at all be surprising to see a bunch of scores.

Don’t hesitate to bet on over 44.5 points (-110) tonight. The total has gone over in each of the Vikings’ last four games and the Chargers’ last two.

  • Vikings vs Chargers Prediction 2: Over 44.5 Points @ -110 with bet365

Chargers Can’t Seem to Cover - Vikings +3 (-110)

The Los Angeles Chargers have lost three of their last four games after starting 3-0. Injuries have impacted the Chargers’ running game and ability to protect QB Justin Herbert. Currently, LA’s top two running backs, Najee Harris and Omarion Hampton, are both on injured reserve.

Offensive linemen Rashawn Slater, Joe Alt, and Trey Pipkins III are all dealing with injuries as well. Herbert has been sacked ten times in the last three games, as a result, and he threw two picks against in the 38-24 loss against the Colts on Sunday.

The Chargers have failed to cover the spread in four consecutive games, while the Vikings haven’t lost back-to-back games this season. This is by no means going to be an easy game for the Vikings, but they should be able to cover. Take Vikings +3.
