Broncos vs Eagles NFL Predictions, Picks & Odds: Week 5 - Oct 5

Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles are on a ten-game winning streak despite a relatively pedestrian offense. Can Bo Nix and the Denver Broncos (+4.5) make things tricky for the Birds today?

Broncos vs Eagles Picks

Eagles Shrug Off Slow Start  - Broncos to Win First Half, Eagles to Win (+700)

The Philadelphia Eagles have won 12 straight games at Lincoln Financial Field, including last season’s playoffs. During Week 3, the Eagles trailed the Rams 19-7 at halftime. The Rams’ lead ballooned to as much as 19 points, but the Eagles still found a way to win the game.

Meanwhile, the Denver Broncos have led at halftime in three of their four games this season and have lost on the last play of the game twice. Given the Eagles’ penchant for late comebacks and the Broncos’ seeming inability to close out games, we’re going for a home run bet.

Take the Broncos to get out to an early lead and win the first half, and the Eagles to pull off the comeback to extend their overall winning streak to 11 games. You can take this bet at +700

odds.

Lighting it Up at Lincoln Financial - Over 43.5 Points (-115)

Heading into this Week 5 matchup, the Denver Broncos do have the second-best scoring defense in the league. The Broncos have allowed 16.8 points per game, but that figure is bolstered by playing games against horrendous Titans’ and Bengals’ offenses.

Also lost in that stat is the fact that Denver has given up 300+ yard passing games to Justin Herbert and Daniel Jones. The Eagles rank 31st in passing yards, but Jalen Hurts could find some success against Denver tonight. He has thrown for 2+ TDs in back-to-back games.

The Eagles have also scored 30+ points in each of their last two games. Meanwhile, the Broncos have reached 20+ in each game they’ve played this season. I’d go with over 43.5 points at -115 odds.

  • Broncos vs Eagles Prediction 2: Over 43.5 Points @ -115 with FanDuel

Broncos to Buck the Trend - Broncos +4.5 (-118)

Since a 24-20 season-opening victory over the Cowboys, which Philadelphia opened as eight-point favorites in, the Eagles have covered the spread in three straight weeks. Meanwhile, the Broncos covered for the first time this season when they defeated the Bengals 28-3 last weekend.

Denver’s two losses this season have come by a combined four points, and both of those games were decided on the final play. The Eagles’ underlying numbers, despite their 4-0 record, haven’t been great this season.

They rank 25th in yards per pass attempt and 29th in yards per rush attempt. The Broncos have every opportunity to keep this close, but I’m hesitant to bet on their moneyline given the Eagles’ ability to find ways to win close games.

Regardless, taking the points on the Broncos (+4.5) isn’t a bad idea.
