How to watch the F1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix 2025: Weekend schedule, TV channels, streaming links & more

The Miami Grand Prix may be done and dusted for another year, but motorsport maniacs have a couple more chances to see the F1 stars in their stunning cars on United States soil this year: The United States Grand Prix (October 19) and the Las Vegas Grand Prix (November 22). But up next, it’s the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. You’ll have to set your alarms, as the lights go green in Baku at 7am ET on September 21. It’s the 17th grand prix of an action-packed 24-race season that goes all the way through until December and the curtain-closer in Abu Dhabi.

Sixteen races down, eight to go, and there’s still plenty to play for. Azerbaijan will be the final F1 stop-off on European soil for the year, as following the Baku race, the drivers set off on a global tour, visiting the Far East, the Middle East, and this side of the Atlantic too, before the curtain falls on the 2025 season. All three days of Azerbaijan action can be watched or streamed live, kicking off with practice sessions on Friday, September 19, and finishing with the main race on Sunday, September 21.

Max Verstappen remains a distant third in the drivers’ standings, but the defending 4-time champion will have taken a lot of heart from his victory in Monza earlier this month. Not only did it bring an end to the Dutchman’s 4-month wait for a win, but he also left the McLarens trailing in his wake, as he cruised to a stress-free 19-second success. Amazingly, it’s the first time Verstappen has finished in the top-2 in successive races this season. He’ll now be looking to build on the recent upturn in form as he looks to consolidate third spot and, at the same time, bridge the gap on the runaway McLarens.

Championship leader, Oscar Piastri, may have extended his run of podium finishes to six when finishing third in Italy, but the fact he was told to let Lando Norris go past by team bosses will have grated on the Aussie a tad. It will be interesting to see what happens in the McLaren camp over the coming months as we get closer to the business end of proceedings. However, Piastri has managed to keep a cool head behind the wheel, up until now, and has been Mister Consistency all season long. He’s not finished out of the top-4 since trailing in 9th in his home Grand Prix, which was the opening race of the season back in March.

Oscar Piastri has fond memories of racing in Azerbaijan, of course, after he took the chequered flag there twelve months ago. However, this will be the 8th edition of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, and no driver has yet to record successive victories in Baku. Red Bull had recorded three wins on the spin between 2021 and 23, but Sergio Perez and Max Verstappen shared alternate wins during that period. Perez is the only driver to record multiple wins in Baku, as before the COVID-abandoned year of 2020, Daniel Ricciardo (2017 - Red Bull), Lewis Hamilton (2018 - Mercedes), and Valtteri Bottas (2019 - Mercedes) reigned supreme.

Whatever happens this time around, we are set for another thrilling afternoon in Azerbaijan. Let GOAL give you all the important information you need ahead of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, including the full weekend schedule of events and how you can watch and stream all the action live.

Where is the F1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix 2025 held?

The first edition of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix was held in 2017, although the final European Grand Prix was also staged at the current Baku City Circuit in 2016 (won by Nico Rosberg). The 2023 Azerbaijan Grand Prix became the first-ever race to implement the new qualifying session known as the 'sprint shootout', which determined the grid for one of the six sprints during that campaign. Last year, the Azerbaijan Grand Prix was moved to September, swapping positions with the Japanese Grand Prix, and it remains in that autumn slot for the current campaign and for the 2026 season. Although next year the main race will take place on Saturday, September 26, Sunday, September 27, is Remembrance Day in Azerbaijan.

The Baku City Circuit is a street circuit constructed near the Baku Boulevard. A lap of the circuit is 6.003 km (3.730 mi) long, making it the fourth-longest track on the current F1 schedule (after Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, the Jeddah Street Circuit, and the Las Vegas Strip Circuit). The lap record is currently held by Charles Leclerc, who clocked 1’43.009 in his Ferrari during the 2019 Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
