GOAL confirmed during the summer that Charlotte FC made a move for Miguel Almirón, but the deal fell apart after the club couldn't come to terms with Newcastle. After seeing a deal for Dutch international Calvin Stengs fall short, the club agreed to personal terms with Almiron, but Newcastle's valuation of the midfielder proved too high for Charlotte at the time.
Newcastle were demanding a fee of around $20 million, sources confirmed to GOAL, but Charlotte were only willing to pay $10 million. The Magpies will likely be willing to accept Charlotte's bid this time around, along with add-ons. Almiron, who is looking more likely to leave Newcastle this winter, has played just 119 minutes this season.
No deal is imminent, but the club remains interested in signing the Paraguayan international.
