How to watch 2024 NFL Preseason games: Channels & streaming links

The 2024 NFL Preseason is finally here, with teams set to spend August fine-tuning their plans for the new season over a series of exhibition matchups against teams around the league.

Thirty-two teams, from the Kansas City Chiefs to the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks to the Jacksonville Jaguars, will play three weeks of road action, home and away, before reducing their rosters to the final 53-man squad.

Preseason matches give this year's rookie class a chance to make their first impression in games and give fans a chance to see their favourite teams in action before the results really count.

Like the regular season, matches are shared across several channels and carried by the NFL Network, but we think the best way to stay on top of it all is to have a streaming package that covers almost all your bases.

Below, GOAL guides you through how to watch the 2024 NFL Preseason, including channels, streaming providers, and the cost.

Who will show 2024 NFL Preseason games?

In the United States, viewers can watch 2024 NFL Preseason games through several methods. The majority of matches will be aired, region to region, on each team’s local television affiliate as an in-market match, while a handful will be broadcast nationally on ABC, CBS, FOX, ESPN, and NBC.

One matchup, the Week 2 clash between the San Francisco 49ers and the New Orleans Saints, will meanwhile be streamed on Amazon’s Prime Video service.

Most games will also be streamed through the NFL Network, while you can watch matches through a streaming package provider such as FuboTV, Sling TV, or DirecTV.

With the majority of games available through streaming package providers, GOAL has broken down our favorites below so you can see which works for your needs.

With the regular NFL season only a few weeks behind the preseason schedule, customers can also fine-tune their viewing plans for the new campaign.

    fuboTV

Available in a trio of English-language tiers - Pro, Elite and Ultimate - plus an extra Spanish-language option, fuboTV has carved out a place as one of the more popular providers across the North American streaming market for its in-depth roster of channels, multi-screen capability and DVR capacity.

ABC, CBS, ESPN, FOX and NBC come included with the Fubo Pro plan and above, while the provider’s Sports Plus with NFL Red Zone add-on, available for an extra $11.00 per month, offers even more comprehensive NFL coverage thanks to its Red Zone inclusion.

Unlike its rivals too, fuboTV offers a seven-day free-trial for first-time customers. That means you can try it out over one weekend of NFL preseason action to decide if it is the right package for you without signing into a longer contract.

    Sling TV

As one of the biggest low-price streaming package providers across the United States, Sling TV and its color-coded options - Orange and Blue - offer a selection of channels at a smaller price point against rivals, starting from  $40.00 per month individually, or $60.00 per month for the pair as a combination bundle.

The latter option is likely your best, given several channels are exclusive to certain packages - ESPN is available with Orange, but you’ll only get ABC and FOX with Blue, for example - and you may also want to throw on the Sports Extra package to get NFL RedZone too, though again, it is only for those with Blue in their basket, at $11.00 per month.

That’s the same price as fuboTV, and can be added on to any of your Sling TV packages. That still keeps your monthly cost just over the fifty-dollar mark at its cheapest though, a significant step-down on multiple competitors.

    DirecTV

One of the largest providers on the streaming market, offering a quartet of major packages for customers - Entertainment, Choice, Ultimate and Premier - DirecTV remains a popular choice, even with a higher price point against its rivals.

ABC, CBS, ESPN, FOX and NBC are all included as standard, but you will need to go for the Ultimate package or above to get NFL Network on your roster, thereby meaning you’ll be limited to what games you can otherwise catch through local affiliates or national channels if you purchase below.

That said, its range of channels is arguably the most impressive across the North American market. If you want to have the full home entertainment experience, few package providers can compete when it comes to a one-stop shop for all your needs.

    FAQs

Where can I watch 2024 NFL Preseason games?

You can watch 2024 NFL Preseason games through several streaming providers, either directly through premium tier packages or via add-on subscriptions.

fuboTV, Sling TV and DirecTV all offer various options that allow you to watch 2024 NFL Preseason games.

Do these packages have every 2024 NFL Preseason game?

In a short answer, no. Owing to the shared broadcast rights across multiple terrestrial and pay-television channels, plus streaming services independent on package providers, you cannot watch every 2024 NFL Preseason game through a single provider.

Amazon’s Prime Video service will exclusively show the Week 2 fixture between the San Francisco 49ers and the New Orleans Saints, for example, which will not be available on another network.
