White was honoured with the Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) title in the 2023 New Year Honours list for her significant contributions to Association Football.
As a key member of the Euro 2022-winning Lionesses squad, White played a crucial role in securing England's first-ever European championship. Her exceptional performance throughout her career, marked by 52 international goals, has earned her the title of England women's top goalscorer. On Wednesday afternoon, she was the MBE by Prince William at an investiture ceremony.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
White retired from professional football in August 2022 after stating that her "football dreams came true" with the victory at Wembley in 2022. She became a mother in April 2023 and says she is relishing her time with her newborn child.
WHAT WHITE SAID
Speaking on her retirement after grabbing the MBE, White told PA: "I feel like it was the right time for me. I’m really content and really enjoying what I’m doing now in broadcasting and working for the BBC and spending time with my family and my little daughter as well. Breastfeeding my baby, they’ve been amazing. She comes everywhere with me. I think it’s just the support of that work-life mum-life balance. They’ve gone really kind of above and beyond for me and my family."

In addition to White, other notable members of the England squad, including Lucy Bronze and Beth Mead, have also been appointed MBEs. Captain Leah Williamson, on the other hand, has received the higher-ranking Order of the British Empire (OBE) for her outstanding contributions to women's sport.

White insisted that even after retirement football continues to be a huge part of her life. She shared her lofty ambitions to drive forward the women's game in every way she can, adding: "I can still work and be a mum at the same time. I really want to still be a part of women’s football and help it grow and still support grassroots right up until the international level as well."
White has won several honours at club level with Arsenal and Manchester City including two WSL titles, three FA Cups and four League Cups.
