When asked about his future at the club by FirenzeViola (h/t Football Italia), De Gea said: "I take it day by day. I’m very happy in Florence and I’m having a lot of fun in Italian football. I hope to get the best with my group.”

After departing Manchester United in 2023, De Gea took a year-long break from football before signing a one-year deal with Fiorentina in the summer of 2024. The 34-year-old has impressed in his debut Serie A campaign, prompting reports that the club plans to offer him a new one-year contract with a significant pay rise.
